Magazine & Brochure Design

Connect: Pembrokeshire Football Review Magazine

Creating a magazine that captures the essence of Pembrokeshire’s local football league is an exciting challenge, combining engaging design with clear reading space free from distraction. It also needed to have plenty of space to offer advertising opportunities to local businesses about their nearest club.

Recently, we had the privilege of working on a templated magazine layout that highlights the league’s end of season results, players and standings for Connect: Pembrokeshire.

From the initial brief to the final printed product, our goal was to create something that’s both visually appealing and practical for regular updates.

Every project begins with understanding what the client needs. In this case, Daniel from Connect: Pembrokeshire required a layout that could be used annually for each issue, with flexibility to adapt for various content like match reports, team profiles, and league tables. Consistency was key – the magazine needed a design that would look cohesive over time while maintaining a professional feel that reflected the league's growing reputation. The brief also included ensuring that the design was print-ready, as the client intended to distribute physical copies across local clubs and businesses. We kept this in mind when making decisions about layout, fonts, and colour schemes.

The first task for producing the magazine involved balancing aesthetics with practicality. Our approach started with a clean and simple structure that allowed the vibrant football action to take centre stage. The magazine needed space for images of players shot by their talented photographer, so we incorporated plenty of polaroid-style images spaces alongside structured areas for text. This ensured that every issue would have a dynamic visual flow, keeping readers engaged. We made sure the template was user-friendly so that the client could easily add new content for future issues. Consistent text styles and image placeholders helped ensure that every page would maintain the same high standard, even as content changed. This kind of brochure and magazine design requires an understanding of how to keep things flexible yet polished, ready for quick updates while still delivering a professional look.

Since the magazine was intended for print, we paid close attention to the technical details that ensure high-quality results. Setting up the correct dimensions, including margins, bleed, and ensuring high-resolution images, was crucial.

We worked closely with Daniel, making sure that every issue would be printed with vibrant colours and sharp details, reflecting the excitement of Pembrokeshire’s football league. By handling both the design and the print-ready preparation, we took the stress off the client’s shoulders, ensuring a smooth and efficient process from start to finish.

Whether you’re working on a **magazine design** or **brochure printing project**, it's essential to think ahead about how the final product will look once it's printed and in your audience’s hands.

Our layout is a design that’s ready to grow alongside the league and Connect: Pembrokeshire's own business model, offering flexibility for future issues while maintaining a professional and exciting look.
